A musical collaboration of chance, Nicol & Elliott formed as a result of Andrew (Nicol - Guitar and vocals) asking Rachel (Elliott - Fiddle and vocals) to accompany him for a one-off show at Celtic Connection in January 2018. Known to each other through common connections within the Glasgow music scene, Nicol & Elliott began rehearsing with 2 months until the show. It soon became apparent that a songwriting collaboration was occurring.
Their debut single, the bluegrass-tinged, self-produced "Wish You'd Stayed Away", was released on 29th March 2019 on iconic Glasgow record label Electric Honey and was warmly received.
Follow-up single, "Sweet Downfall" soon followed and established the duo as a regular feature on independent radio in and around Glasgow.
Nicol & Elliott announced that their debut EP would be released on newly formed Last Night From Glasgow subsidiary label, Hive. My Heart Will Wait EP was release on Friday 24th January 2020 with the lead single due to released 2 weeks beforehand on Friday 10th January 2020. My Heart Will Wait sees Nicol and Elliott's harmony-driven, folk-tinged Americana embrace dark subject matter in the Southern Gothic tradition. Unafraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves, My Heart Will Wait is a self-explorative journey through the pitfalls of the human condition rich in atmosphere and reflection. The release of My Heart Will Wait was supported with an appearance at Celtic Connections 2020 Last Night From Glasgow showcase.
